I have been observing people recently – clients, friends, family, relatives, authors, strangers, etc. I have found them having various emotions and feelings about their life – happy, excited, worried, surprised, proud, shocked, scared, confident, scared, loved, tired, silly, embarrassed, unhappy, confused, unsure, passionate, depressed, and so on.
Putting together, I have concluded that those who are happy (read – all positive emotions) with their lives have answers to WHY’s of their lives, whereas those who usually seem unhappy (read – all negative emotions), don’t have their WHY’s sorted. Let’s look at a few WHY questions …… Parallelly, it will be nice to try answering/ reflecting these from your life perspective –
- WHY are you in the profession you are in?
- WHY do you go to work every day?
- WHY do you need to hire that specific person only?
- WHY do you want to get married?
- WHY do you want to have children?
- WHY do you call/ meet a certain relative/ friend regularly?
- WHY do I hate to be in presence of someone specifically?
- WHY do you want to stay nuclear?
- WHY would you want to stay in a big house?
- WHY are you living in your country currently?
- WHY can’t you find time for exercising and meditation?
- WHY do I enjoy certain food items?
- WHY I refrain from asking questions?
- WHY do I hate to spend time in the kitchen?
- WHY are you going through, all that you are going through?
- WHY do you get irritated on some specific things?
- WHY do you love a certain brand?
- WHY do you get tired/ ill so soon?
- WHY do you scared of having time with yourself, without any gadgets?
- WHY do I keep ordering food and grocery online even though the grocery shop is 2 minutes away?
- WHY, as a student, you want choose a certain stream for studies?
- WHY do I want to stay away from certain subjects?
- WHY am I a part of a charitable foundation?
WHY is one of the most powerful words in English language. It can make our life or break it. If a WHY is asked in the right context and for growth, it can help us zoom ahead in life. If it asked for wrong reasons, it becomes a recipe for disaster.
A positive WHY question and heartfelt/ truthful answers will ensure that we are doing most things in a day, which we enjoy. As a result, we will end up being happier and every day will be more satisfying. When we have happiness and joy as a part of our daily living, Life indeed becomes beautiful. Every moment is to be cherished. Each work will seem like God’s work happening through me. All conversations and meetings will be totally worth it.
I know that sometimes, it can be very irritating and exhausting to keep asking these “WHY” questions. The truth/ reality though is that whenever we have answers to these questions, life is lovely and totally worth living! Ultimately, it is what kind of Life we want to lead.
A thought-provoking read. I especially liked the idea that our “why” shapes not just our decisions but also our sense of purpose and contentment. When we pause to understand the reasons behind our choices instead of living on autopilot, we make more intentional decisions. Sometimes, one honest “Why?” can change the direction of our lives.
Thank You Mam. A honest answer to WHY can reveal so much and give clarity.
Unfortunately, many get scared to ask this question.
This reminds me of the book – Start with WHY by Simon Sinek
Getting answer to the why helps you getting to the bottom of the problem and makes life much better once you answer to the same.
In Software Quality control, there is a funda of 5 Whys to get to the root cause of the problem and it works like a magic for anything in life.
