Like every year, Valentine Day just passed by on 14th February! Lots of people celebrated in various ways – candlelight dinners, day outings, romantic long drives, proposals, gifting flowers, and maybe so much more! It is not just about couples who are dating, but this day is also celebrated by those who are in relationship/ marriage for long time! Afterall it is a day to celebrate LOVE, isn’t it!
Talking about myself, I didn’t do anything special. I just hugged my wife Arpita, and wished her a Happy Valentine Day early in the morning! Why, you may ask! Well, because I do not believe in such days at all.
My question is – do we really need a day to celebrate/express Love to our loved ones? Shouldn’t Love actually be a daily chore? Like how we brush our teeth every day; isn’t it obvious that the way we operate should be completely out of love? Not one day, but all the days and in all the interactions?
To me – Love is sacred! It is the thread which binds us all. It can be between anyone – Husband-Wife; Parents-Children; Siblings; Student-Teacher; Guru-Disciple; Friends, Me-My Relatives, Me-Elders in the family/ Cousins; Humans-Mother Earth, Us-Our Passion; Me-Myself; and ofcouse Me-Almighty!
Love is beyond any physical limitation. I can love anyone, anywhere in the world without them being near me physically. It is a feeling, a fulfillment, security, and unwavering comfort. The strength I get (or can give) with feeling of pure love is immense. Words can never describe the feeling true love can give. It is beyond anything. It is indescribable.
But there is a catch! To be able to get love, we have to first give love! If we feel that someone should love us and then we will love them back, it isn’t going to happen! Love in not a transaction, neither it is a barter. We don’t love anyone expecting them to love us back. I love someone simply because I love them. There is no expectation to expect love back.
