Atiqa Mir, just 11 years old, has rocketed into the global motorsport spotlight with a career-defining performance in Greece. Competing in the OK-NJ category (ages 12–14) in Thessaloniki, she became only the third driver in the Champions of the Future Academy series’ history to clean-sweep qualifying, heat races, and the finals.
Driving as the first Indian supported by the Formula 1 Academy, Atiqa set a record pole position time of 56.77 seconds—nearly three-tenths faster than her nearest rival—showcasing skill far beyond her years. She dominated Heat Race 1 from start to finish, won Heat Race 2 by over a second, then delivered a racing masterclass in the 15-lap final, pulling away to a 3.9-second advantage within just eight laps.
Her margin of victory in Round 2.2 exceeded 2.6 seconds—a massive gap in motorsport where all 25 drivers use identical equipment. Competing against a highly competitive field of mostly experienced male drivers, Atiqa proved she’s in a league of her own in her first season in this category.
The emotional highlight came when the Indian national anthem played on the podium. “It is such a difficult and physical track and I managed to win all the races. I was very emotional when the National Anthem played and there is no better feeling for me than that,” Atiqa said.
Born in Mumbai with family roots in Jammu and Kashmir, Atiqa’s triumph reinforces her status as India’s leading racer on the world stage. Her pole-to-flag victory marks another major milestone in her promising career and highlights her growing reputation on the international karting circuit.
Atiqa’s success proves that age is no barrier when passion, talent, and determination collide. The Positive Diary celebrates this young champion who’s speeding toward a bright future in motorsport.
