How many times have you said ‘ Thank you!’ (…. from heart)
On my regular days, I go to work when my kids are at school and come home when they reach home. Last week, my mother-in-law tripped around the veranda of the house and got a plaster for three to four weeks. Kids started with their summer vacation too. Now how do I go to work?
I asked my kids, can I go to office post lunch while you take care of granny and house for three hours? They happily agreed.
First day, it was a ruckus. Both of them started fighting since morning. Out of little irritation, I told them, “I will be home. If you two are fighting, then who will take care of granny?” Immediately they said, “No-no. You go to work.” They assured me, “We will take care of granny.”
With lot of doubts and fear, I left for office. I called thrice from office to check on them and granny. To my pleasant surprise things were absolute fine!
Next day, both kids got ready quickly, sat with granny, played cards whole time and helped me too without sulking. I left for work feeling at ease. Sitting at my desk, I called my kids, just to say, “Thank you for being so co-operative, taking care of granny and the house. Thanks a lot kiddos!”
In the night, I asked my son Anay, “How did it feel When I called to say thank you?” He replied, like a typical boy, briefly, “Acha laga Mumma!” I probed him to be specific and then he said, “Actually mumma, I felt very special, that you think of us so much!”
Today I happily left for work. Kiddos served lunch to their granny. They emphasises and told me that we have done all the work, leave for work now!!!
A small thank you made all the difference.
We appreciate our children, pamper them, love them, listen to them, talk to them, and also play with them! But have we ever said, ‘THANK YOU‘ to them for being the way they are, for understanding at times with whatever knowledge they have, for loving us unconditionally, trusting us, and most importantly for accepting us (with our irritation, sometimes our ignorance, and other limitation) the way we are!!!
P.S – Try saying ‘Thank you’ to our closed ones too! They also do a lot unconditionally for us without expecting anything in return from us.How many times have you said ‘ Thank you!’ (…. from heart)
