New Delhi: On this auspicious occasion of Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the dedication and selflessness of educators across India who strive to shape the future of our nation. One such extraordinary teacher who has been pedaling the path of knowledge across the country is Aditya Kumar, fondly known as ‘Cycle Wale Guruji’. Born in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, Aditya Kumar embarked on a unique mission: to provide free education to underprivileged children, all while riding his trusty bicycle.

A Journey of Purpose

Aditya Kumar’s journey began with a deep understanding of the importance of education, having faced financial hardships during his own upbringing. His determination to make quality education accessible to all led him to start offering free tuition to underprivileged children while pursuing his own college education. These altruistic beginnings sowed the seeds of his mission to empower the less fortunate through knowledge.

After completing his BSc in 1995, Aditya decided to devote his life to teaching and ensuring every child could access education. Despite familial pressures to settle into a conventional career and marriage, he followed his heart’s calling. When his family could not comprehend his unorthodox path, he set out on his own, residing at the Lucknow railway station, where he opened up a makeshift classroom for the local children.

Aditya’s dedication soon caught the attention of locals who recognized the impact he was making. In a gesture of appreciation, they gifted him a bicycle, earning him the endearing moniker ‘Cycle Wale Guruji.’ As an educator, ‘Cycle Wale Guruji’ has garnered numerous accolades, including the prestigious ‘National Hero Award’ and the coveted title of ‘India’s No. 1 Teacher’ by Google in 2018. His name also graces the pages of the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness Book of World Records, a testament to his unwavering commitment to education.

Throughout his ‘Bharat Yatra,’ Aditya Kumar has conducted over four lakh classes in various cities, impacting the lives of countless underprivileged children. His ultimate goal is to provide quality education to children nationwide, helping them achieve their professional aspirations and elevate our nation’s prestige. ‘Cycle Wale Guruji’ emphasizes the pivotal role of education and the profound influence of teachers on the nation’s growth and future.

On this Teachers’ Day, let us draw inspiration from ‘Cycle Wale Guruji,’ who pedaled across India, spreading knowledge, hope, and opportunities. His story exemplifies the transformative power of education and the extraordinary impact a dedicated teacher can have on the lives of the less fortunate. As we celebrate this day in honor of the revered Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, let us remember and celebrate the tireless efforts of teachers like Aditya Kumar, who continue to illuminate the path to a brighter future for our nation’s children.
