Recently I got intrigued into the self-help genre of books. It was a dive in the vast ocean. Each book took me deeper within. The deeper, the calmer, the subtler and thus I felt lighter. Experiences in the days following the reads are difficult to pen down. All I can say is I am blessed and blissed.
One major learning is the self-awareness that arose as a result of routinely self-introspections.
Introspection is accessing my internal self or own perceptions or judgements by asking myself “what is it that I am feeling in the moment?” Then allowing myself to access each emotion without judging, blaming and complaining. Write down everything in a notebook (optional ) . This leads to contemplation or analysis of those feelings. And thus are the responsive thoughts and actions , again with self acceptance .
So through Introspection I understand myself , much better. I understand why I said or behaved the way I did. And in any given moment , if I pause and think( introspect) , my response is much better.
Thus I realise how I behave and what I think in response to all events around me.
Now if I can’t access a regrettable action or behaviour, I will most likely act that way again. For example I once was very rude to my staff and did snap at her every time she asked something. When I did introspect myself, I realised I don’t wish to be treated the way I treated her. I will definitely be upset or sad or angry if I am snapped at always. Hence as a result of this introspection, I apologized and now share a much-improved relationship with my staff , infact all my staff.
Well you don’t do it full day! This practise takes time. And can be overwhelming at times. Daily is good, but if not possible weekly reflections are a great way to start. With this practise my ability to control my emotions has increased and thus providing a greater sense of well being, improved relationships, improved decision-making, improved perceptions and more smiles.
Introspection helps me to keep a watch over my progress in a positive way.
“I lovingly release the need for complications and drama. I choose only nourishing thoughts.”
True minal… To what ourself as a third person is a fantastic game… I really love it… This self reflection process creates better version of me everyday….
