The Positive Diary

It has to be - ME!

Loading

I crossed 40 years of calendar age on 15th October 2021. Though I believe that the calendar age has nothing to do with anything I am, yet it is an event! It is a special day! I didn’t want to have mega celebrations. Yet it had to be something special.

GIVING MYSELF PRIORITY is how I thought of making things special in this next phase of my life.

When I say the above, a rhetorical question can be – Am I am becoming selfish?

If I keep thinking about myself, then what about others whom I love? Do they have no value in my life from now on? Am I heading towards renouncing the world?

Parallely, if I keep thinking about others, where do I stand in the picture? Is my life not my life at all? Is it to be lived for others and on other’s terms/ expectations?

This is a huge antithesis of life!

One of our fellow bloggers wrote last week on this topic – “Everything is a choice!” She beautifully explains why we do what we do in a relationship, especially with our loved ones. Why do we give in sometimes? I agree to her cent percent!

After greying my hair for 40 calendar years, and with the recently popped above questions, I have come to conclude – LIFE IS ALL ABOUT BALANCE. It should never be about giving up my priorities, passion, love, fun and excitement for the sake of someone/ something else. As much as I love my loved ones, I should love myself too if not more! If I will not fulfill my desires, run behind my ambitions, and give direction to my passions, who will? If I will not care for myself, will people ever care for my feelings and aspirations?

I have realized that I need take some exclusive time out for myself too and do what I love to do – going for a trek, doing a solo trip, enjoying a drive with music of my choice and volume, meeting my buddies who make me feel good; converse with my cousins who respect and accept me as a person, spare time to have heart to heart conversations, go for a jogging, dancing to my hearts content whenever I feel like, eating my favourite food even if I have no company, shopping, learn a musical instrument, understanding a new language, watching movies, spending on myself, blog on various topics that are dear to my heart, and many more things that I would love to do.

I have seen that – while I do these things to gratify my conscious mind, my subconscious mind experiences tremendous freedom and excitement. The mind forgets all the bondages and refreshes me. This refreshed mindset leads to creative ideas and ways to handle the current challenges – big or small. It increases my solution finding abilities!

It is high time that I start living for myself as well, along with living for others. Living only for others will eventually make me suffocated. But living a BALANCED LIFE of – living for myself and for others is bound to give me a tremendous sense of freedom, satisfaction and fulfillment!

At 40, I have realized that the focal point of my life has to be ME! Everything should revolve around that and not vice versa! This will help the best of me come out and hence others will be able to experience the best that I can offer!

HEY WORLD …. HERE COMES A NEW ME!
