DATED – 26th November 2016
Sometimes, some weird negative thoughts strike you out of the blue. A few days back, I had one such thought. As I woke up in the morning, a thought struck – what if God decides to call me back now? It was a shattering thought. I became uncomfortable. I could visualise the plight of my loved ones. Tears rolled down my eyes.
In a few moments when sense prevailed, I realised that anyway my time on the Earth is never going to be in my hand; it is His wish. There is no point in worrying about it. I have no control over it. The actual question should be – WHILE I AM ALIVE, CAN I BE GOD’S BEST CHILD? In all my actions, intentions, thoughts and feelings, can I make God feel proud of having created me? Or do I make him feel disappointed?
Here are a few things that, I think, can make me GOD’s BEST CHILD –
- Trust that God is with you even when times are hard. He knows what is good and not good for you. He will always give you that which you can handle, according to your ability
- Spontaneously appreciate people for anything good right on their face and not behind their backs
- Have noble intentions in any action taken or words spoken
- Respect fellow human beings for the fact that they are human beings
- Be passionate about anything you are doing. Being passionate will make you do things extraordinarily well; and so will be the output. Live up to your potential
- Keep your body fit. Even though you are slim, it does not mean your body is fit. Exercising regularly is compulsory
- Give as much love and respect as you can to your parents. There is no one who loves you more on this planet (though their ways of loving might be different)
- It is always good to go out of your way to help someone without any personal benefit
- Overcome your own mental barriers that stop you from doing things
- In case someone from your circle is treading the wrong path, correct them even though they won’t ask you
- Understand you children and don’t put unnecessary pressure on them
- Listen to people sharing without interrupting and having to prove a point
- Give time to your spouse even after having kids. They are your strongest pillar of support
- Do not cheat/take advantage of people given their circumstances
- Ensure that no one takes your goodness for granted; shield yourself
- Give time to yourself. In spite of all the responsibilities, your own life is also to be enjoyed
One often thinks that there are various ways to please God – by going to various spiritual places, putting money in donation boxes, doing pooja, bathing them with milk, sitting in front of the idol for half an hour every day, fasting, etc. Trust me, God wants nothing of this. Even if you just live by the above pointers, he will be the happiest person. He will be delighted to have created you.
Vis-à-vis my life –
Every time I live by one of the pointers above, it gives me a feeling that just cannot be described. It is beyond earning any amount of money in the world, being on a dream destination, or buying the most expensive things available. It just lifts my spirits beyond imagination.
The moment you start living with the thought process to become GOD’S BEST CHILD, everything can change about you. You are not trying to prove a point or become better than someone. All you are competing for is – to become GOD’S BEST CHILD!
