There is this perception that ‘power corrupts’. This is simply not true.

Power does not corrupt even though it seems to corrupt.

Permit me to quote someone who knows something about power, ‘Abraham Lincoln‘ the former president of the United States of America. It is reported that he once remarked “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.“

Power does not corrupt it simply allows people to drop the mask, the pretences that disguise who or what they truly are and what they really stand for.

Power simply magnifies. Thus good people appear better and bad people appear worse. This is why corrupt people who acquire appear as if power has corrupted them whereas the fact is that it is a case of a corrupt person having acquired power.

Only a great man can withstand the burden of prosperity and power.
