Brave Teen Sets Up Animal Rescue Center in Bihar

Loading

Hariom Chaubey, an 18-year-old from Dalsagar village in Bihar, has dedicated his life to saving snakes and helping animals in need. Growing up, he noticed that villagers would kill snakes out of fear, leading to many snakebite-related deaths in the region. Determined to make a difference, Hariom started rescuing snakes at the age of 12.

His passion for snakes was nurtured when his uncle gifted him a book on ‘Snakes of India’, which he studied ardently for four years, learning about snake behavior and first aid for snakebites. Despite facing opposition from his family and being misunderstood by society, Hariom continued his rescues and educated people about snake safety.

In 2019, his reputation as a snake rescuer grew, and he started getting calls from villagers asking for his help. This motivated him to set up an animal rescue center in Churamanpur, Bihar. Though he faced setbacks, including a fire that destroyed the center, Hariom remained determined and raised funds to rebuild it.

Despite suffering a venomous snakebite, Hariom still responds to animal rescue calls with the help of his friends and a doctor. He charges a nominal fee for snake rescues, which helps him sustain the rescue center. His dream is to continue rescuing animals and educate people about wildlife conservation.

Hariom’s efforts have not only saved numerous animals but have also raised awareness about responsible animal care in his village. Once he recovers, he plans to rebuild the center and continue his passionate work for animal welfare, proving that he is dedicated to making a positive impact on his community and the environment.
