All of us have our own thoughts and opinions about various things, issues, and ideas. Whether our opinions are strong or not depends on how strongly we defend them or give in to others’ thoughts. Some of us do anything and everything to ensure our thoughts are the final word (let’s call them headstrong); whereas, others are okay even if someone has other opinions (let’s call them non-headstrong). I feel both the cases are not good. If you’re headstrong, people will refrain from giving you feedbacks and suggestions. They will close themselves to you. If you are not headstrong, you will always be taken for granted and won’t be asked for an opinion or suggestion, irrespective of your knowledge and maturity.
Here are some places where you must be HEADSTRONG and places where you must NOT BE HEADSTRONG –
NOT TO BE –
- Debating on politics
- Decide on which movie / place to go for a vacation
- During a difference of opinion between loved ones
- Matters relating to gossip
- Actions or words of your favourite celebrities
- Who takes the last word
- When your partner is in a bad mood
TO BE –
- The choice of your career
- The choice of your spouse
- Your fitness regime
- Your diet
- Avoiding bad habits, which can harm you
- To leave unwanted habits
- How to be successful irrespective of the conditions around you
The list can keep growing. The point is – all the places where you feel that the outcome will not affect your life, be non-headstrong. But in places where your life will be dramatically and directly affected, be headstrong!
This is great advice! Very honest and practical.
Thank You
