I AM BLOCKED!
Archer Matt Stutzman of the U.S. prepares to shoot in the London Paralympics. Born without arms, Stutzman uses a release trigger strapped to his shoulder to fire.

I have a cousin who loves the English language. He speaks English unlike a few of us. He believes that we use some words unnecessarily; without them also the sentences make sense. Here are some amazing ones from him – my wifi is damaged (my wife is not feeling well); my leg damage, repair it (legs are hurting, do something); when I come, you come? (will you come only when I come to pick you); I very stress today; close the fan; legs no listen to mouth (legs and mouth don’t work together); and then the best one, which has inspired this topic – Amit is BLOCKED (Amit has sent a blog this week). He is absolutely hilarious and joy to be with!

Moving ahead – I believe that knowingly or unknowingly we have certain blocks in our mind. The blocks might be due to some situations, experiences, or people involved. Here are some areas, where I think we have blocks. See if you can relate to them –

  • Being a female, my sales will be lesser than the men in the sales team because I have a family to take care of and hence I have to balance
  • In current market scenario, if I ask for a payment too soon, my clients will buy from my competitors
  • My parents will never understand my point of view
  • No one in my family has ever done business. Maybe, it’s not in our genes
  • I am too old to learn a new skill / language
  • Since I don’t know how to use a computer, I can’t shop online
  • I am not a social person; hence, I can never build a good network
  • How much ever I try, I can never control my anger in that moment
  • Whatever I do, I am just not able to lose weight
  • I need to be a social drinker to keep roping in business
  • Until I have a cup of tea in the morning, my head will keep spinning
  • I will always be a serious person; humour is not my cup of tea
  • My family does not understand emotions. They will never appreciate surprises

I think ‘having a block’ is all about a mindset. We feel we will not be able to do something because we believe so. The moment we change the belief, magic happens! Though the solution looks unbelievably simple, yet we never go on that path. We seem to be absolutely comfortable with our current lives, not knowing that better life is possible.

Vis-à-vis my life

Even I have certain blocks in my mind; especially when my past experiences haven’t been very encouraging in that particular aspect. At times I do realise that I am ‘blocking’ myself, but there is a hesitation to put a foot forward. Now I am positively putting my step forward where I know I have a block and need to move ahead. I am choosing to overcome the hesitation.

All of us have ‘blocks’, whether we like it or not. Some of them are known, while some are unknown to us. As we live, we will keep deciphering various blocks. Our job is very simple – the moment we realise that there is a block, start to overcome it. Some might take time, while most can be instantaneous. Let’s UNBLOCK… and never say for a lifetime – I AM BLOCKED.
