DATED – 29th November 2015
Fear is a common word/ emotion, which every person on this earth would have heard and certainly experienced. The degree and regularity of it varies from person to person. Invariably, Fear is considered to be evil.
I have a contradicting view on this. Whether we like it or not, each one of us fears something or the other – some express it, most don’t. I feel that there is no harm in having fear. Infact, I feel fear is good. If you can direct it in the right way, fear is the best possible stimulant for your growth –
- If you fear losing in sports, you practice harder, leading you to improved skills
- If you fear losing a customer, you will go that extra bit in bettering your service or price, hence earning a goodwill
- If you have a fear of losing your loved ones, you will go all out to create memorable moments while they are alive
- If you have a fear of ending a friendship, you will take care of the words you speak and stop becoming blunt
- If you have a fear of ill health, you will eat healthy and exercise regularly
- If you fear being abandoned, you will work enough on building relationships with people around you and reduce on complaining
- If you fear scoring less marks, you will study with more dedication, without any distractions leading to greater clarity on subject
- If you fear your designs might become outdated/ repetitive, you will explore the world of internet and incorporate them in your interior projects, hence making your projects stand out from rest
- If you fear your children going on wrong track, you will engage them in various activities and inturn getting exposed to what is happening in the world
- If you fear that you might miss out on some interesting places on the trip, you plan and research enough before actually landing there
- If you have a fear that your parents might not like the step you are taking, you will take double caution, think twice and only then go ahead with a clearer mindset
Vis-à-vis my life –
I have a huge fear that – will I be able to live up to my own potentials? Every time I ask this question to myself, I seem to give myself that thrust in life. It has led me to positively change the way – I think, conduct myself, relate with people, work, take decisions, do any activity, and so on. I am not perfect, but I am certainly improving every day. I shall keep improving until eternity.
There are some basic kinds of fears too – of height, water, dark, sleeping alone, flying in aircraft, animals, injections, bridges, depths, numbers, worms etc. You need to face these to overcome them. When you do that, you rise in your own eyes. Most of us wouldn’t care to face these fears, as it is not going to be comfortable. But what a waste of a human being we will be if we stay with such fears for a lifetime.
The world always seems to have shown fear as something negative. It will be so amazing if we can smile when we have a fear of anything, with a determination to overcome it, however difficult it might seem. Yes, it might be a little challenging. But only when that happens, can we affirmatively say – FEAR = GROWTH!
