Though Anay and Aavya are twins, yet they are poles apart as human beings! I wonder how that can possibly be? They are given same input, same surroundings, similar school, equal attention, etc. But it is indeed a joy to see them grow!
Anay is usually very fast to do his daily chores once he wakes up. Whereas Aavya takes her own sweet time to do the daily chores. She wants those cuddles and cajoling every morning.
Yesterday she went beyond the time limit. As she came out of the bath, I sweet scolded her that it wasn’t fair to take so much time. That time is ticking and school time will be up soon. She needed to hurry up now. She did not enjoy that stern voice from me and had tears in her eyes.
As the morning ritual before leaving, hugs and kisses overflowed! Aavya loves this the most as she leaves for school. As she sat in the car, Aavya turned around and said, “Papa, sorry I did late today.” My chest swelled in pride! It isn’t easy to accept a mistake and say it upfront! That too from a seven-year-old ….WOW!
Sipping my morning tea after that event, made me think – Mistakes are a part of our lives. None of us enjoy doing mistakes. But then we end up making mistakes in various facets of our lives. Some mistakes are out of ignorance, few due to less information, other due to various reasons.
But if we learn and do not repeat a mistake, is it still a mistake? Would that be actually called a mistake? Nothing happens without a reason. There must be something about it. Maybe that mistake was to teach us a lesson. It was probably to correct our path. Might be certain alterations were needed.
We can look at an error and feel bad about ourselves. Other way is to halt and check as to what message LIFE is giving us! Instead of looking down upon ourselves, finding ways to improve from the event will help us uplift.
From this incident, I have started to believe that there no mistakes in life if I learn and improve. The moment I think like this, all the seemingly big and small mistakes I have made, don’t make me feel bad anymore. Infact they have taught me a lesson!
Does this prayer re-iterate with you – “GOD, allow me more mistakes so that I can improve and become better in various facets of my life!”
