The Positive Diary

Algae in the Fish Tank

Algae in the Fish Tank

The Pandemic resulted in changes and transformations in human lives. Nature too was affected, mostly positively as human interference was avoided for a long duration of time. While humans were worried about their breathing, Nature breathed itself to eternity!

We have a Fish Tank, size 4′ X 2′, with a Height of 2′ placed at the Entrance of our Restaurant. It is developed and maintained by a cute couple, Mrs. and Mr. Atul Bibve. Both have in-depth knowledge about their work, with Atul being an encyclopedia of a Fish Tank.

The Pandemic led to Naivedyam being closed for long months. Atul too got busy with his work resulting in the Fish Tank not being maintained. In between, they had removed all the fish present leaving behind only the vegetation and soil inside. Over the period a thick layer of algae formed in the water. The water level was hardly 6″, hence due to the black-colored algae, the tank looked ugly.

Friends and well-wishers often reminded me of the need to clean the Tank. Customers started commenting and relating the ugly Tank to the failure in the Management of the Restaurant. Some even commented on Google! For me, it was a big black spot, right at the entrance of the Restaurant.

After a huge follow-up, the Bibves finally turned up yesterday. I tried my hardest to hide my annoyance. They saw the Tank. Did nothing initially. Atul then opened the tap supplying water to the Tank.

The water level started rising slowly. I went inside the Restaurant for my daily chores. After about an hour, I returned to see the development. Whatever lay before me was hard to believe!

The water level had risen to about 1.5′. Along with the water, the algae too had risen above the bottom level. It was floating on the surface. Beneath the surface and the algae was crystal clear water with the full-grown vegetation swaying along in the water,  in their pleasant form!

It was as if nothing has changed for them!
Atul with the help of his better half, removed the algae from the surface, almost two buckets full. Now, the Tank looked as if nothing happened! The same Tank, the same water, the same vegetation, and the same clean glass walls as it was 3 years back.

The Pandemic has led to algae formation in many lives. Awaiting for Him to open the tap, rise the level of water and remove the thick algae layer from the surface. Maybe life will resume once again as if nothing had happened!
