I KNOW

Loading

“You have to clean up your room this weekend.”

“Yes mom, I know.”

“Have you submitted the forms in school?”

“Yes, I know mom.”

“You should keep an hour of study time every day.”

“Yes maa, I know.”

Do you have a teen at home? Or maybe you could just visit your teen days. (Hehehe… I know that feeling.)

I am sure you remember the same conversations. And the same, “I KNOW, MOM.”

So you’re familiar with the phrase, “I know!”

It seems like no matter what you say the answer is mostly the same, “I know!”

Makes me wonder ….. How is it that they know it all? LOL

Well, recently I read something called The Illusion of Knowledge. And trust me I know what it is NOW.

So basically you seem to know it ALL but do you really?

Let’s do a reality check.

So you “all KNOW scissors”? Obvious answer is Yes, “I Know.”

Let’s check ! So you know all the what, when, how? Now quickly grab a piece of paper and a pen. Let’s write down everything you think you know about the length, the mechanics, structure, how, what, the angles, the screw, the pivot, etc etc etc about THE simple scissor.

Hey! What happened? But you said,”I know.”

So basically, “The Illusion of Knowledge” is our tendency to know more than we really do.

Let me give one more example. I spotted a book at my uncle’s place and there was this self-talk, “I have read that book, I KNOW it all. I can reiterate like a pro.”

And later that bubble burst.

Thus let’s not blame the teens alone. We all use the “I know ” phrase so often.

Anyways, the illusion of ‘I know it all’ does give the self-confidence to stick on in any conversation. It makes you feel in the right place, with the right people and the right talks.

But to avoid overconfidence and awkwardness incase of not being able to recollect data well in time, maybe we could or rather should become more aware of our limitations and thus improve our decision-making.

We must accept our limitations and be more open to more learning. At the same time “BE OKAY” without knowing it all , Always! 🙂

I LOVE AND ACCEPT MYSELF AS I AM.

IT IS SAFE FOR ME TO APPROVE OF MYSELF.

I RELEASE ALL LIMITING BELIEFS.

I AM MINDFUL.

To read more about this i do recommend this book
