Elemental Drama

Which Dosha Are You When You’re Hungry?” – A Light-Hearted Look at the Elements in Real Life You’ve met the doshas in my last blog: Vata (air + space), Pitta (fire + water), and Kapha (earth + water). https://thepositivediary.com/the-doshas-inside-and-the-universe-outside/ But let’s face it — doshas don’t just sit quietly in ancient textbooks. They show up in your group chats, your dinner tables, your Monday mornings… and yes, even your fights over the remote. Let’s meet them again — this time, through the people (and situations) we know all too well. Vata: The Daydreaming Butterfly When hungry: “Oops, I forgot to eat. Again!” Vata in action: She starts five projects, finishes none. Talks fast, thinks faster. Mood swings? Like the weather in April. You’ll find her: Journaling about her goals, while completely forgetting her lunch on the gas. Pitta: The Hangry CEO When hungry: “If I don’t eat in the next 3 minutes, someone will get fired.” Pitta in action: Laser-focused. Ultra-productive. But don’t mess with them when they’re sweating — emotionally or literally. Burns both fuel and bridges if not cooled down. You’ll find them: Planning a 5-year career move while giving side-eye to the late food delivery guy. Kapha: The Chill Care Bear When hungry: “Let’s cook something nice. Want to join?” Kapha in action: Loyal, calm, and hugs like a warm blanket. But when imbalanced? Think couch potato meets emotional sponge. You’ll find them: Watering plants, remembering birthdays, hoarding snacks they lovingly offer but secretly want back. So… Which Dosha Crashed Your Last Zoom Call? Let’s be honest — we’re all a mix of these doshas. One day you’re Vata — dreaming big, forgetting things.Another day you’re full Pitta — conquering your to-do list and scaring your neighbor’s cat.Or maybe it’s Kapha day — and all you want is chai, chill, and cuddles. Well….. Your body is not a problem to fix. It’s a cosmic cocktail of wind, fire, and earth trying to figure out how to do laundry, finish emails, and stay sane. So the next time you feel off — pause, smile, and ask:“Which elemental drama is playing in me today?”

The Doshas Inside and The Universe Outside

Loading

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of life, simply teaches us that everything in the body — and in the universe — is made of five basic elements: space, air, fire, water, and earth. These elements combine in different ways to form three main energies in our body, called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These are known as the three doshas. The word “dosha” can sound a bit harsh — like it means a fault or something wrong. But in Ayurveda, doshas are not bad. They are simply natural energies or forces that keep our body and mind working. Just like the seasons outside us, these energies can change, increase, or go out of balance — and that’s when we feel unwell. So think of doshas as: • Vata – the energy of movement (like the wind) • Pitta – the energy of transformation (like fire) • Kapha – the energy of stability (like earth and water) When these are balanced, we feel good — physically, mentally, and emotionally. When they are not, we may feel tired, irritated, heavy, or anxious. The Universe Outside Reflects the Energy Inside : Many spiritual masters say that the universe is not separate from us — it lives within us. If that is true, then the three doshas that exist inside our body must also exist outside, in nature. Let’s understand how: 1. Vata – The Wind Within, the Wind Outside Inside us: Vata is movement — it controls breathing, blood flow, thoughts, and flexibility. Outside us: It is the wind, the space, the flow of air and energy in the world. When Vata is balanced: We feel creative, light, and energetic. To balance it: Stay warm, eat nourishing food, and slow down when life gets too fast. Notice the wind — let it remind you to move gently and stay grounded. 2. Pitta – The Fire Within, the Fire Outside Inside us: Pitta is fire — it governs digestion, clarity, courage, and passion. Outside us: It is the sunlight, the heat, the fire of stars — the force of evolution. When Pitta is balanced: We feel focused, strong, and confident. To balance it: Stay cool, avoid overworking, and practice kindness. Watch the fire — let it remind you to shine, but not burn out. 3. Kapha – The Calm Within, the Earth Outside Inside us: Kapha is water and earth — it gives strength, calm, and emotional stability. Outside us: It is the soil, the rivers, the trees, and the moon — everything that nourishes and supports life. When Kapha is balanced: We feel peaceful, strong, and loving. To balance it: Move your body, clear your space, and express your feelings. Feel the earth — let it remind you to stay rooted, but keep growing. Balancing the Doshas through Nature Our body is always in conversation with the world around us. • A windy day may increase Vata. • A hot, fiery moment may increase Pitta. • A heavy, rainy day may increase Kapha. But nature also offers the solution. When we pay attention — to the sun, the wind, the trees, the food we eat — we begin to gently bring ourselves back into balance. Final Thought: The same elements that shape the stars shape you. Your breath is the wind. Your hunger is fire. Your emotions are rivers. You are not separate from nature — you are her reflection. So the next time you feel off-balance, look around. The answers are in the sky, the soil, the sunshine, and in your stillness.
