Grant Poole turned 100 years old on Thursday, 28th April 2022!
When Poole was 83, his wife passed away. But he was not the one to mourn and go into a shell. He realised that she is no more and he is still there. He needed to be occupied
So he started keeping himself occupied. He joined trumpet classes, did bowling, learnt tap dancing, and started gymming! Until a few months back, he was cycling at the gym.
Until he was 98 years old, he was staying all by himself, doing his chores. After that he moved in with his son in Lakewood.
“He’s an amazing man. He started taking trumpet less than 17 years ago, weekly,” said his trumpet teacher, C.L. Snodgrass. “And I don’t think [he’s] missed 17 lessons in 17 years.”

When asked – what is your mantra for living. He simply says – You got to keep doing something. You must stay busy!
In a world where people think life is short and nothing to enjoy once you grow old, this man is such an inspiration. He holds the saying true – Age is in the mind and nothing to do with the body!
